I had a blast yesterday! Through a short grapevine of connections I met Leo. He's a student here at BYU-I and a friend of my roommate's friend. ...Uh, yeah you figure that one out if you're confused.
Anywho, the party was in celebration of two birthdays and I think pretty much every Brazilian in Rexburg was there. One word for that, AWESOME! I have to admit I was kinda nervous, but once I met Leo, I was fine. I had a chance to use my very rusty Portuguese, but everyone reassured me that after two years off the mission I was doing just fine. So, that helped my confidence and my comfort levels. :D
There was wonderful food and company. LOTS of music and conversation and laughter. Karaoke was happening downstairs, which ended up being really fun. :D Leo played the guitar and sang. Made my day!
We took off around, I dunno, when it got dark? We were headed back to my place, but we were side-tracked by the fireworks being set off behind the power plant. They were for the International Dance Festival. We met someone there housing two girls from France and Leo wanted to talk with them in French. Something he's always wanted to do. So we drove down to the stadium to meet them. They talked while I chatted with the woman who brought us.
We then headed off to the park because I wasn't quite ready to call it quits. And we just talked, he took me home, gave me a hug, and that was the end of a fabulous evening. :)
