Music is like art, when taken out of it's context or environment, it loses it's meaning. Having Jon Schmidt actually explain the inspiration for his songs was like hearing them again for the first time.
Omgoodness!! I absolutely adored the Jon Schmidt concert!! It was AMAZING beyond all reason. He played all my favorites plus some that I'd never heard. He also did Billy Joel's Root Beer Rag in like 2 minutes and 35 seconds!!!
Then, I think the real crowd pleaser and umph of the concert was when he picked a random music person from the audience to come up and boogie with him on the piano. I wish I'd had a cam-corder or camera in general or a tape recorder or SOMETHING!! They went NUTS and had a blast doing it! The improv was just phenomenal! I just wanted them to keep going and going. Hee hee, the concert kind of did. We as the audience weren't quite ready to let him go.
I loved Tribute and Renaissance Hymn and I think it was called Bells of Freedom? Anyway the music was inspirational and left you feeling like you'd been given a piece of light to take home with you and cherish. I would go to see him again and again. Just wow!
